Dharamsala Travel Guide

Dharamsala is a town in Kangra district in the northern regions of India in the state of Himachal Pradesh.

Under the shadow of Doedar branches, a commemorative has been made over the body of the British Viceroy, Lord Elgin who expired at Dharamsala in 1863.

Norbulinka Institute
Just 4 km from Dharamsala, Norbulinka was recognized to conserve and educate the antique Tibetan arts. Macleodganj

Triund is an accepted picnic spot at a height of 2827 m. The neighborhood is on the foothills of Dhauladhar range and is 17 km from Dharamsala. The snow line initiates at Ilaqua, which is five km from Triund. The out of this world view of the mountains and the valleys makes Triund an ideal picnic spot and trekking spot.

The best time to visit would be in the months between May and December.

How to get there:

Nearest Airport: The nearest airport is Gaggal Airport, it is an hour drive from Dharamsala.

Nearest Railhead: Pathankot which is about 85 km is the nearest railhead for Dharamsala. Trains from all over the country make a stop over at Pathankot and from this place it is just three hour journey to Dharamsala.

Road: Dharmasala is well connected by road network. One can drive to Dharmasala from Delhi via Chandigarh, Kiratpur, Bilaspur and it is 8 hour journey. Air conditioned, deluxe buses ply from major cities like Chandigarh, Delhi, Shimla etc.
